CURRICULUM VITAE

Alberto Giglioni was born in Florence. He accomplished his musical studies by the academy of music” Luigi Cherubini” in Florence and got a degree in composition, conducting and chorale with the following masters: Carlo Prosperi, Riccardo Luciani, Alessandro Pinzauti, Albino Varotti. In 2001 he won the second prize in the national contest of organ music composition organized by the A.GI.MUS of Varenna (Lecco) with the piece “Passacaglia”. In the same year he also recorded the piece “Arpeggi” in the first anthology of contemporary compositions “Diaphonia” (vol. 1) for EurArte. In 2003 he ranked the second in the national contest of Composition for music teaching method “Città di Pontremoli” with the musical fable “Filastroccando” on poems by Gianni Rodari. Some of his compositions have been performed in occasion of several concerts of different genres. Concerning this issue, the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina performed “In memoriam”, for strings. In the same period “Four”, for strings quartet, was performed by Raffaello quartet. In 2005 it was drawn attention to his composition “Trill” at the international Italia Guitar festival. That same year he recorded “”Jolly”, for flute solo (flautist: Stefano Margheri), for the EMA RECORDS. In 2006 he ranked the first at the international composition contest CE-RI-DO with the lied “Se non è all’ungherese” and in the same year “Dance”, for orchestra , was performed by O.C.F. In 2007, “Jolly” for flute solo (flautist: Giovanni Mareggini) was performed in occasion of the presentation of the CD “Incanto di primavera” by the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna , SALA MOZART. In 2007 “Sheid” was also performed (violin: Beatrice Bianchi, cello: Gabriele Cocchi) in the Chiesa di Dante in Florence. In April and May 2008 the opera “Orfeo…l’ultimo spartito” was represented at the “Verdi” theatre in Florence, while “Impulsus”, for orchestra, was performed by the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina. That same year he was signaled at the National Contest of Piano Composition “Associazione Culturale Di Musica” of Savona with the piece “Melos”. In 2009 the concert season of the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina opened with the composition for acting voice and orchestra “…Oltre il mare….oltre il silenzio….” dedicated to Maestro Giuseppe Lanzetta. In 2009 he also won ex aequo the third prize at the “Opera Omnia” contest for choir with the piece “Pari a sé”, on lines by Giuseppe Ungaretti. In 2010 he concluded the concert season of the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina with the composition for orchestra “Lully…Lully…” and in that period he got the Dilpoma D’Onore (the only one assigned) TIM-Torneo Internazionale di Musica Roma, with the composition “Impulsus” for strings. In addition, for some years he composed music for drama performances, collaborating with the artist Ivano Vitali: “La Casa in Chiesa”, Verduno, Cuneo, 1999; “Festival nazionale della performance 2000”, Villa Strozzi, Florence; “Exit5” Controinaip, Bologna 2001; “Tamburi in azione”, Villa Vogel, Florence 2002; “Performan 2004”, Biennale di Venezia. His style, starting from avanguard experiences, has evolved into a “neo eclectic-minimalist” expression which freely moves on neotonal , atonal , polytonal areas combining all in a definite and personal artistic process.
